Connecting Home and School

The children love to share stories from their homes and what they enjoy most with their families!  We found this week a great week for us to connect back to home and bring a little home to us!  Thank to everyone who filled out the survey!

At the art table this week, the children were able to explore with a new media.....toothbrushes!  They found this "paintbrush" to be different and unique and we were able to see the movements of their strokes shift in their paintings and learn control in a different way.

When we started talking about our routines, the children all were able to talk about how they brush their teeth.  So I asked the school nurse, Ms. Deb, to come in and talk about toothbrushing with the children.  They all had stories to share and facts they knew about brushing their teeth!

For cooking this week, the children voted and the winning idea was mashed potatoes!  The children loved smashing and mashing!  We had cheese, butter, and corn as some topping ideas!

What a fun EC1 Bike Ride we had!  The children loved it!  It was all sorts of fun, but one of the other parts to this activity was for them to learn how to be aware of others and their surroundings, to follow directions, and to manage and strengthen their gross motor skills.  Continue to provide your children opportunities for the development of their gross motor skills during these hot months!

Good to Know:

* EC1 Swim Party will be on Sunday, May 27th at 8:50-9:25.  You will send your child in their swimsuit just like our swim lessons.  I would like to have a an ice cream party afterwards if possible.  Could you please let one of the room parents know if you can bring some ice cream and toppings for that day?  Thank you!

* If you are leaving school before May 30th, please let me know so we can prepare all of your child's things to send with you.
