Playful Learning at its Best!

This week has been a full run of gobs of playful learning!  We have been on the go each and every day connecting ideas and learning into our world!

We have continued on our conversations about home and us!  At the math center this week, we were talking about how many girls and boys we had in our families by making some family trees!

The children have really enjoyed making fairy houses!  You can see them outside our classroom!  We talked about what we see in our houses, what rooms are there, and what other parts (big and small) we see.  We heard things like: "My bed, my bed is so big." "Clock." "Sofa, I'm going to make a sofa." Some of these topics and items tell us about what children are understanding and what is important to them.  It also reminds us to talk more about what is around our house, what do we like best in our homes, and asking why. (Good conversations for the weekend!)

One of our favorite songs we have been singing this week is "Peanut Butter and Jelly."  During one of our group times, Dalia brought up that this is what we should make for cooking this week. So we did!  I bought several different flavors of jelly an so the children got to decide which one they wanted.  It was fun to see the children who wanted all of them for a mix!

Happy Birthday Ines!

We had a big plant break this week by accident.  The class all chipped in and was eager to help clean it up and take care of our community!

More great learning and growing opportunities this week!

Good to Know:

* All library books need to be returned next week!  We will continue to go to the library but will not be checking out books anymore.

* Our EC End of the Year Celebration will be in the Blue Gym at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23rd with all of the EC classes.  Following our celebration, you can join your child in their classroom for some cookies and punch.

* We will have our EC1 Swim Party on Sunday, May 26th at 8:50 a.m.  I would love for a few moms to be there afterwards at 9:20 to help change if possible.  We will have an ice cream party afterwards as well for the children!

*  EC1 Splash Day will be on Wednesday, May 29th!  This will look like a swim day but in addition to the necessary clothing and swimsuits, I'm going to ask parents to put sunscreen on their child before they come to school!

* Last Day of School, May 30th at 12:00 :(
